Why do people want to be seen as victims so badly?
What's strange is people who have ACTUALLY been victimized often don't want to be seen as victims. That isn't always true but most people generally don't want to identify with their trauma and they don't want to be treated differently because of it. They're survivors, not victims
This is my sister. A couple of years ago, she was attacked by a shark in the Bahamas and lost her arm. As far as traumatic experiences go, it doesn't get much worse than that. Yet, she doesn't claim victimhood. She proclaims herself to be an overcomer. https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/23/health/shark-attack-tmr-smart-arm-vs/index.html
She could have embraced victim mentality and blamed the world for her circumstances. Instead, she built a ministry, encouraging others to be overcomers. Family bias aside, I find her attitude VASTLY more inspiring and laudable than promoting victimhood. https://beanovercomerministries.com
