Ok Im going to discuss how briliant Alfred Molina was as Doc Ock. /a thread, btw/ https://twitter.com/Pootish2/status/1281558209438707713
First Im going to say, props to Alfred Molina for playing such a charismatic and charming Otto at first.

He was gifted like Peter, but the difference is that he got his shit together and is a succesful scientist, using his intelligence to help mankind.
I also like how Rosie is pretty much Otto's MJ, to strengthen Otto as a reflection of the man Peter could be with healthy relationship, a good job.

A life he could have without having to be Spider-Man.
While Otto is surely a noble man, but he has an ego shown by his rejection of Peter saying that his machine couldnt work.
I think one of the biggest misconception is that the arms mind control Otto.

It doesnt. It only amplifies his ego to the point where he ignores his grief for Rosie and helps the arms rebuild the machine, the only thing it knows what to do.
I still love how he fucking turns around to show the inhibitor chip.

I still laugh at this shot. Most be goofy seeing it on set.
This isnt just a praise on Doc Ock, but what I love the most is when Peter personal life intersect with his Spider-Man's.

The bank scene ties together Aunt May's money problems with Doc Ock out for money to complete his machine.

I like how natural it was.
People had problems with this scene, but I have some fanon explanations for it.

1st Peter punches were weaker since his powers was failing
2nd the arms blocked his pain receptor (since its connected to his cerebelium) but since one arm is holding Aunt May, the other making a -
Sword ready to stab Peter and the others are holding Otto and May in the building, none of them can see that Aunt May was gonna hit him, so the pain blockers are off.
Some people also argue why doesnt Otto just steal the parts, but since the parts are probably in different locations, its easier to stole money in the bank and buy them.
(This bit is copied from my other tweet)

The theme of the movie is that sometimes people have to give up their dreams to do the right thing.

Otto is Peter's foil, they have a dream they want to do, but it was selfish, although both achieve it in different ways.
- Peter wants to have normal life with good grades and stable income, in doing that he ignored his responsbilities and crime rose up.

- Otto wants to build his machine, having a mark in the world, but in doing so he endangered the life of the city.

They confront this in the -
Finale, with both choosing whats right.

With Otto sacrificing himself, not dying as a monster and Peter becoming Spider-Man.
