A reflective week at work and in life. Considering deeply how I can learn and unlearn to become anti-racist and how as a workplace and place of care we can do the same.

The change must happen. Black Lives Still Matter, this week next week and every week afterwards.
We have a way to go in Hospice care to enable justice and equity. A first step is to recognise our inherent racism as individuals and commit to action.
This is uncomfortable and comes with shame. For me, in feeling that shame and discomfort, there is a immediate sense of needing to defend myself, "I'm a good person, I'm not a racist" but that is wrong and enables inaction.
My own behaviour needs work and I need to sit with the discomfort because this feeling is NOTHING compared to the day to day lived experience of racism. I would urge you to do the same and be mindful of "yes but"
