Bruno Fernandes is the best captain pick for GW35+

Here’s why....

Team stats over the last 4 matches first...
Shots conceded, shots on target conceded, big chances conceded, goals conceded
Which teams appear in every top 9 list?
Newcastle, Palace, Watford & Bournemouth
Which teams appear in 3 of those lists?
Saints (only conceded 4)
Newcastle and Watford are playing against each other (could be high scoring so maybe don’t bank on CS!) so no Captain choices there. Palace have struggled against top 6 opposition, however they play against Villa this GW. Which leaves Bournemouth & Saints’ defences to 🎯
Bournemouth play Leicester and Saints play United, so lets look at Team stats attacking wise first...

Last 4 games (United v Leicester)

Shots 60-54
In box 37-35
Big chances 13-8
Goals 14-5
On target 28-14

United win comfortably
Now let’s go to the players. Unless you are considering a huge differential, Vardy is the best Captain choice for Leicester. Golden boot leader, hungry for goals, 1 of the best finishers in the league. Lets compare him to Bruno...
Bruno v Vardy (last 4 games)

Goals 4-3
Assists 3-0
xG 2.19-1.79
xA 0.81-0.88
xGI 3-2.67
Goal involvement 50-60
BPS baseline 53-28
Pen touches 17-20
Shots 11-11
In box 4-9
On target 6-5
BCT 4-4
CC 10-7
BCC 1-1
Bruno on corners.

Not much in it!
Bruno shades it for his assist potential and the fact that United as a team have better attacking stats than Leicester over the last 4. However, Vardy would still be a very good choice. Bruno’s high ownership should be taken into account too.
Is there a better Captain choice from United?

Martial v Bruno (last 4 games)

Bruno wins - xG, xA, xGI, Involvement, BPS, Shots, Shots on target, BCT, CC
Martial wins - Pen touches, Shots in box, Accuracy
Level on goals, assists. Bruno wins cause of higher potential of points
Greenwood v Bruno

Again Bruno dominates. Even in the accuracy and goal conversion where you would expect Mason to win, they are level with 54.5% accuracy and 36.4% conversion from the same amount of shots. Greenwood has more shots in the box though.
Amazingly Mason hasn’t had a single big chance for his 4 goals. Bruno has had 4, scoring 2 of them. Bruno wins.
Rashford v Bruno
You guessed it, Bruno with the domination. Rashford has a small advantage on xG and xA (which would suggest you can’t trust xA!). He has more pen touches and 1 more shot in the box but Bruno bests him on every other stat. Bruno wins.
Pogba v Bruno
Pogba has higher BPS baseline and has created more chances (12 to 10) with 1 more big chance created. Where he falls short is his goal threat - 4 shots in 4 games. Bruno wins.
A word on City options...
Rotation risk is too much of an issue here (in my opinion) when there is already such a standout option in Bruno. Over the last 4 Brighton have only conceded 5 big chances...but it’s City. So I’m not saying don’t captain Sterling/KdB. I prefer Bruno.
A quick Bruno v Sterling comparison...

Bruno beats him on every stat apart from pen touches and shots in box. He has however started 1 more game in the last 4 (thus the rotation risk is greater for Sterling)
What about Salah???

The monster of FPL cannot be ignored and again, I am not saying don’t captain Salah. There is a slight rotation risk after Mane was rested. Burnley have conceded 58 shots and 7 big chances in the last 4 so there could be goals...
But they’ve kept 3 clean sheets in the last 4, only conceding 1 goal.
Bruno v Salah (last 4)

Salah shades it on stats...slightly higher xG, more pen touches (39!!), more shots, more shots in box. Bruno has more potential for assists & has been better at finishing (Salah with 16.7% goal conversion).

It’s the rotation risk that puts me off.
