So after looking at all the nonsensical tweets and targeted bullying by all the fans yesterday, I had a conversation with one of my friends who’s doing her PhD in psychology. The information I gathered is, these fans who identify themselves 1/n
with a celebrity belong to a borderline psychological disorder. Celebs are loved coz they are an integral part of our culture. Not everything in life is learned by us consciously and voluntarily. Some unconscious learning happens. By worshipping them one feels importance 2/n
and warmth. Celebs live lives are certainly out of their fans to reach. By worshipping them, fans feel celeb lives are like their own. The same thing is used in movies. The exotic locations used in movies and commercials to take the audience to places beyond their reach. 3/n
To some extent this behaviour is fine, but over obsession is certainly a psychotic behaviour. I am personally amazed by the people who accept that the good messages are consumed from the movies but for bad things they say “it’s just a movie”. 4/n
Many psychology researchers have told that the brain simply doesn't realize that it's being fooled by TV and movies. That’s the key behind the movies and advertisements. This, whatever the Indian celeb fans are doing is trying to escape from real-world problems. 5/n
Also, one needs to understand how the Indian tax structure works to understand why celebrities are into charity. This is a capitalist world and whatever sells more be it good or bad is manufactured. Everyone is not rational enough to make good choices all the time. 6/n
And so we ”Telugu woke ppl” will continue to learn, point out what's wrong and help others learn. 7/n
