Story of Shiva and sanatha Kumar.

Sanathkumara, one of the sons of Brahma, was a great sage. He realized his Athmic Self and was always immersed in it. One day, very unusually, he went to sleep and had a dream. In the dream, he saw himself as a warrior fighting against demons.
He was initially disturbed by the dream, but later resumed his serene self.

That day, Lord Shiva appeared before him and offered him boons. Sanathkumara smiled and said, "I do not want anything, as I am everything.
Lord Shiva was very happy to witness the extent of his Gyana and Vairagya.

Then Sanathkumara asked Lord Shiva, "if You want a boon, I will grant it." Such was his Thapas! Lord Shiva's joy knew no bounds and He honored Sanathkumara by asking a boon.
He asked "Will you be born as a son of Mine?" Sanathkumara gladly accepted.

Sanathkumara was born as Subramanya, son of Lord Shiva, and as prophesied in his dream, battled against the demon Surapadma.
The greatness of Sanathkumara is better understood when Krishna says in his Geetha, "I am Sanathkumara among Yogis, and Skandha among warriors."
