I hate to say this but I think we need a 3-4 week hard lockdown including no air travel. I'm despondent at the time we have wasted, and I know we have no leadership to do this. But otherwise it is just going to be whack-a-mole with hot spots.
I think of what so many people have sacrificed in so many ways and this is where we are with over 133,000 deaths, people struggling with symptoms, and financial hardship.
The incubation period is 2 weeks. New Zealand shows a lockdown works. Their schools are open. They are back to normal with the exception of International travel. Their team is 5 million. I know that seems easier, but if they didn't get buy in from everyone it wouldn't have worked
People are desperate to get back to a semblance of normal and the irony is it is 4-6 weeks away. We are living a Greek tragedy. I feel like Tantalus.

May 13, level 2 restrictions
June 8, all remaining restrictions lifted except border controls.

Instead of teachers dying because they are attending meetings to figure out how to open schools we could be 10 1/2 weeks away from opening schools safely.

California can lockdown all they want, but as soon as they lift it and travel resumes, people from covid hot spots can travel to Disney and boom. Back to square 1.

If the lockdown needs to be longer, then it needs to be longer. This is what we need out experts working on. But the longer we wait to shut it down I suspect the longer it will have to be.
