Because I have a question: Was the Office of Pardon Attorney even *involved?*

Because this GatewayPundit/Devin Nunes literary colostomy bag isn't really about Roger Stone, but about the entire conspiracy.

So...was the DOJ actually...involved? I'll explain.

Turns out, there's this whole process at DOJ involving the Office of Pardon Attorney, and it seems to be quite involved. Most people have to apply for commutation of sentence, it seems! Did Roger? https://www.justice.gov/jm/jm-9-140000-pardon-attorney

The Pardon Attorney would work with Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen (former Kirkland & Ellis partner, a colleague of Bill Barr's) on a Petition for Executive Clemency.

Um...when was one filed? (Unless there's some other process?)

Now, there are standards for clemency - but this is Trump and the Treasonweasels, so let's just sort of look at "The Normal World," and then laugh and move on - we know Trump is panicked and doesn't care about optics right now.

Roger Stone wants commutation, and Trump is giving it...without him applying. So apparently there are two rules:

1. You have to go to prison.
2. You can't be seeking appeals or a new trial.

Roger hasn't yet been to prison, and Trump admits...he's seeking a new trial!

Commutations are 1. Reduction to time served or 2. Reduction of the rest of a sentence. Roger has never been - and you can't reduce what hasn't yet started!

Otherwise, he needs to have cooperated with the government, done service for America (HA!), or be really sick.

And the rest of sentence commutation...DOESN'T APPLY TO ROGER STONE!

So...perhaps @lauferlaw can give us another example of a valid process...doesn't Rog still go to prison next week?
