A very interesting discussion today courtesy members of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology ( @sherryromanado, @MichelleRempel, @seblemire, @earl_dreeshen, @AliEhsassi, @beynate, @TracyGrayKLC, @BrianMasseMP, @emlambropoulos).
Eric La Flèche, president and chief executive officer of Metro, Sarah Davis, president of Loblaws Companies, and Michael Medline, president and CEO of Empire Company, attended the committee hearing to testify about cancelling the $2 pandemic/hero/bonus pay.
Here is my summary!
1) Sobeys did not “collaborate or coordinate” with the other two companies even though the pandemic pay ended at the same time.
2) Loblaws did not “collaborate or coordinate” with the other two companies even though the pandemic pay ended at the same time.
3) Metro *did* call the other two companies, but their answers “did not inform” Metro’s decision and they made the decision independently, even though the pandemic pay ended at the same time.

So, nothing to see here, right? #canlab #onlab https://www.ourcommons.ca/webcast/43-1/INDU/28
