I remember the case of a naxalite leader Kondapalli Seetharamaiah. He was pillar of the naxalite movement. On 2 January 1982 he was picked up at Begumpet Railway Station while waiting to board a train to Bombay. /1
I got a call from Mr. George Fernandes telling me that something must be done to save his life. Otherwise, he will be killed in a fake encounter. I got a petition ready and went to Justice Bhagwati pleading for his life. The Court issued notice and listed the matter next day./2
Kondapalli Seetharamaiah was poduced before the Court and his life was saved. Mr.Fernandes and the naxalite activists were extremely happy. /3
Then I read a news item in Times of India. That on 4th January 1984 an armed group of naxalites raided the Osmania Hospital and killed all the police officials on duty. They were 20 years old or so. Mr.Seetharamaiah escaped. I did this case gratis and I feel guilty till date./4
