@SFASU @SFAPresGordon Being physically disabled, this thread took forever to write. I would appreciate it that it be given some credence.
I’m currently taking my last class online (International Finance) before I graduate next month. Other than very minor hiccups, it’s been smooth sailing. That said, I am unable to think of a legitimate reason why 13,000 students need to be on campus this fall. Online works.
Ivy League universities have accepted the fact that we need to continue social distancing, but you’re asking your professors to make that judgment call through your “FLEX” program? C'mon. Think of the implications of that.
1. What if any given professor believes that this pandemic is a “hoax” and chooses that their class be in-person, takes attendance, and punishes students for choosing their health over attending class?
2. What if any given professor chooses to hold class in person simply because they don’t want the additional work that teaching an online class requires?
3. Ignoring the FLEX program, how do you plan on sanitizing a 430-acre main campus? Because the plans I’ve seen won’t suffice.

4. What about students who are non-compliant with the facemask mandate? What about off-campus organizational activities? You’re going to trust the 18-24 year-old members of organizations not to spread the virus? Look at Alabama students and spring break.
5. Have you considered your students with disabilities? High-risk family members? If I wasn’t graduating, I would be taking a year off or transferring. I would be doing so because if I caught COVID-19, you would be writing a “death of a student” email. And I’m not the only one.
I hope the decision to have your students doesn’t have monetary reasoning and would like to think that you’re going to give it more thought. Don’t prove me wrong.
@DrAdamPeck I’m tagging you because I know you will give me the time of day and an actual reply.
@SFAQuestions @SFABarstool I would like y’all’s opinion, as well.
