Today I decided to ride down Yonge because it's Friday! I started near Eglinton and headed south. Unfortunately, my bike was stolen a couple of days ago, but luckily @BikeShareTO had my back and their day pass is a steal!
I stopped by Aroma Espresso Bar (Yonge/St. Clair) for a refreshing iced berry lemonade. Very nice on a hot day. #bikesloveyonge #bikefridays #buylocalbikelocal @CycleYonge @YongeStClair
Heading south Yonge is downhill but just a 2 lane road that is hostile to cyclists. (Vid near Summerhill.)
Yonge gets noticeably busier as soon as you reach Bloor. And a lot of parked cars. (Vid near Wellesley/College)
Dundas and Yonge is one of the busiest pedestrian plazas in the city and ripe for pedestrianization.
There was a truck that was creeping up on me. Not cool. (Richmond) yeah Yonge is not nice to cyclists, parking and narrow lanes threaten my safety.
Here we have the only bike lane on Yonge, it's not protected but it's fine. (Near Lakeshore Blvd)
Here we've reached the Foot of Yonge at Queen's Quay. Overall, not the safest road to cycle on. The road has 2 lanes that are both narrow which means that drivers might not give you space. And the parked cars scare me. There is a better way. #yongetomorrow #biketo
