Info about COVID testing sites in Oakland has been a bit unclear, so after spending the past 1.5 hrs driving around with my kid & in-laws in a failed attempt to get us tested, sharing back what I learned.
We started at Fruitvale Bart. After I had tried calling for an appt w/o getting a response to my call ( #ElTĂmpano's producer had the same experience a few weeks ago) I figured we could try just showing up.
I was wrong. Even though there was no line or any other patients for 10min, I was told they couldn't test us without an appt.
So... call 510-535-3370. Keep trying if they don't pick up. If they put you on hold, hang on. 20min later when I was on my way to the Roots Community Clinic, I finally got through, and got an appt for us for next Tues.
As for @RootsEmpowers on 99th Ave, you don't need an appt., but contrary to info I've seen online, their testing site closes at 1pm Fridays.
The folks there told me to come early, cause the line will wrap around the block.
