Me and my twin sister Kammira ( @nickynich0lss) made this thread together on how to show solidarity with sapphics with a different sexuality than you. I’m lesbian and Kammira is bisexual <333
To bisexual women from a lesbian (me)
-Please understand that our lack of attraction to men for many of us is an important part of our identity because it took many of us a long time to accept it and not being attracted to men is something we’re looked down upon by society
-Please understand that our lack of attraction to men for many of us is an important part of our identity because it took many of us a long time to accept it and not being attracted to men is something we’re looked down upon by society
-Please don't say dyke. It’s a lesbian slur that is used to shame us for our lack of attraction to men
-Accept and respect that we have different struggles and experiences than you both growing up and in our everyday life
-Accept and respect that we have different struggles and experiences than you both growing up and in our everyday life
- Don't insert yourself into lesbian-specific debates and discourses
- Don't make jokes like "I'm a lesbian now" when a man is being problematic/gross. It implies that lesbian arent attracted to men because we hate them

-Please Dont call yourself femme or butch. Those are lesbian identities that describe our relationship with femininity and masculinity while not being attracted to men
To lesbians from a bisexual woman ( @nickynich0lss)
-Please stop reinforcing/ believing in the harmful stereotypes that bisexual women face (fx. that they’re cheaters, that they can’t be satisfied without men etc.)

-Please stop the ongoing talk about how bisexual women have low standards when it comes to women because of past relationships with men (fx. saying that bisexual women are easily impressed in bed and by simple romantic acts) it is really hurtful and degrading. (1/2)
I do not have low standards because of my sexuality and my past relationships with men does not mean that I will settle for any women… please also stop assuming that all bi women have been with men (2/2)
-Accept and respect that we have different struggles and experiences both growing up and in our everyday life
-Please stop shaming bisexual women for their attraction/past relationships/ past sexual encounters with men

Sapphic solidarity and love is so important!
It’s sad that biphobia exists in the lesbian community and that lesbophobia exists in the bisexual community. We are all sapphics and have a lot of shared experiences. and we should all support each other despite our differences.

We have different communities and different histories, but we also have a shared one and it’s important to honor and celebrate both
