The orange order is a fascist supremacist organisation, bonfires are hate filled supremacist events the 12th of July is a celebration of the conquest and colonisation of Ireland and the implementation of a colonial and religious system that oppressed Irish people for centuries
The people who try to both sides this are spineless. If these events happened in any other country to any other colonised people they would call it out for their own clout but they aren't brave enough to do it at home. It's a hate fest plain and simple.
What another nation allows such a massive display of colonial triumphism in the 21st century? What other nations turn a eye to the burning of community figures pictures or flags to this degree. Moderates who justify it with a few good bonfires are just cowards tbh
Sorry if you help normalise these traditions your part of what's holding this place back. It's not normal to celebrate colonialism, it's not normal to justify it and both sides it and its not normal to shame a minority community for speaking up against it
Another year of a weekend I'm wary of leaving the house and living a normal life out of fear of attack. Yet there will be middle class photographers going to bonfires to take pictures for their own clout and to normalise this so they can seem edgy and advance their careers
