A brief history on Bosnian Genocide and how Pakistan helped and saved Bosnians during the conflict 🇵🇰🇧🇦
.
on 11 July 1992, Serb Army started a Genocide of Bosniak Muslims, thousands were killed and forced to flee their homes while U.N imposed embargo on Bosnia (THREAD)
During Peak of the conflict while the Dutch, French and other forces withdrew Pakistani Army stationed there refused to go back and pledged to remain in the form of peacekeeping forces to defend Bosnians, ending conflict and bring peace.
looking at a possible Bosniak extermination right under U.N/NATO nose Pakistan alone made secure zones under it's protection, defied U.N Embargo and airlifted weapons/equipment giving Bosniaks a fighting chance, gave 20million$ in Aid and set field clinics for women and children
After no help from NATO or U.N Pakistani officers started training Bosnias as they had never fought specially against a formal well equipped army and provided Real-Time Intelligence which was helpful & Serbs were forced to retreat, ending the genocide and war with a free Bosnia.
Pakistani soldiers would often fast on alternate days and share their food with local Bosnians as the food supply was very limited and it took a lot of time for supplies to reach as most of the airspace and routes were closed.
during peak conflict Pakistan airlifted more than 10,000 Bosnias to Pakistan to save them from ethnic cleansing. Pakistani philanthropist Edhi alone raised 1million$ for their resettlement. A whole new Bosnian Village was made in Mansehra, a city in northern Pakistan
During the conflict Pakistan faced 6 causalities. Pakistan cleared all No-Go zones, Mine fields, repaired roads, build bridges alone. Though the locals and U.N station applauded the heroic Pakistanis but it is very little known and acknowledged around the world.
