If you’re out there thinking “huh this could be ok bc political ads are shady and annoying” I need you to remember that FB ads are also a critical tool that Dem candidates and progressive orgs use to raise small-dollar money.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that in a post-Citizens United world, small-dollar online fundraising is the only reason Democrats have a fighting chance in the money race.
FB ads are one of (maybe the?) most critical ways all your favorite candidates 1) raise money and 2) build email and SMS lists from which they raise money.
Not to mention, of course, FB ads are a powerful way to reach voters and turn them out to the polls.

If they’re on your email list they’re already voting.

If they’re not already voting, ads are the way to get to them with reminders, polling place info, etc.
