For example: if hostile and/or partisan entities were unleashing bots + trolls to attack Gov. DeWine and Amy Acton as they tried to save lives, we have a right to know. If hostile entities organized people to go to her home + menace her, we have a right to know who did it. https://twitter.com/saradannerdukic/status/1280977963476045832
We have a right to know if hostile foreign or partisan entities are running psyops designed to undermine an effort to save peoples' lives. What stands between knowing and not knowing is social media's continued facilitating of anonymity.
Anyone, anywhere, can pretend to be someone they're not, somewhere they're not, something they're not. Allow free speech - just let us know who's talking, and let US decide if it's trustworthy or not.
Can you imagine how many news stories would fizzle if it were readily apparent that the reason something is "trending" is because someone thousands of miles away is pushing a button?
This is literally costing lives. If social media platforms truly want to do something to help, they can.
