Track 1. Recover
AX: Recover is a song dedicated to my late mother, who passed away from breast cancer when I was seven - I've carried this grief my whole life. My parents fled the war in Laos and came to New Zealand as refugees, where I was born.

I feel her absence more than ever as I reach certain milestones in my life. There have been moments where I've needed her: the grief that only a mother can nurse - my first real heartbreak. Her death left a void. A sadness that will never leave me; I love her still.
TP: Recover has multiple layers of meaning. As well as it being Alisa's road to catharsis, it was a eureka moment: the first song from our 'summer-sessions,' written for the album 'Recover,' where Alisa and I felt like we'd found our direction. It was a beacon.
TNAF has been a turbulent partnership. We had to rebuild our personal, professional, and artistic relationship to complete this album. Bigger bands have ended for smaller reasons. We have endured, and that feels like a tremendous personal achievement.
