I tried taking notes on loose papers and journals but they’re easy to lose and hard to carry around.
So I went all in with digital note-taking.
I use my phone and an iPad Pro (computer works too).
Apps I use:
Google Keep (Android/iOS/Web)
@BearNotesApp (iOS/MacOS)

Why I use Keep? 
You can access Keep from every phone and laptop with app or web app.
It has no fluff. You can pin note, make lists and change notes’ colour.
Ideal for quick fire entry.

In Keep, I pinned a note titled Ideas Dump with bullets.
1 bullet is 1 idea.
I jot fleeting ideas on my phone quick-fire style with no regard to grammar and spelling.
The key is to capture the thoughts to get them out of my head and make space for other ideas.

In the evening, I go through all the notes in Keep.
I rewrite them into Bear on my iPad. This is where magic happens.
I synthesise raw thoughts into elaborated ideas that I can act on.
I then file them with my naming system for easy retrieval and review.
