Been rereading @jacobplitman 's essay from April 2018 (which actually made me want to work for @JewishCurrents in the first place) and wondering: what are the Reckonings of this moment asking us to reconsider abt being Jews in diaspora? 1/

Maybe our latest Reckoning comes bc of annexation, white Jewish rxns to Black Lives Matter, pandemic. Two years ago, @jacobplitman writes, it was Trump, Israeli occupation, failing US capitalism –– and uh, turns out we had a "reckoning" 50 years ago? 2/

I wonder about what fierce resistance Jewish institutions will put up to avoid looking at our own racism and to continue to discredit Palestinians. Sometimes I struggle to envision Jewish community not rooted in perpetual fear

and yet...I see Jewish orgs and communities building a multiracial antiracist future, orgs rooted in diaspora and in dismantling white supremacy and unafraid to confront Israeli injustice, no matter the cost.
