An interesting dichotomy: lots of people think revenge porn is wrong who think having lots of sex is acceptable or even laudable.

This belief is based on the clearly true idea that the general public will judge you unjustly based on what gets publicized about you, often wrongly.
Many people, on the other hand, believe it is always completely just to go public in order to cancel someone over private remarks.
In one case, people believe that an instance of acting in a way many people disapprove of is not in fact an accurate representation of someone's character, value as an employee, or worth as a person.

In the other, case, they think it is.
One of the reasons a right to privacy is important is that everyone, and I mean you, has beliefs and actions that millions of people would find evil or disgusting.

The right to privacy enforces a truce. What everyone else doesn’t know won’t hurt you.
And here’s the thing, and why I bring up revenge porn: everyone already KNOWS that people fuck. It’s not a surprise or a secret in our current society.

However, it is still damaging to be publicly associated with video of you doing it.

Permanent records are an escalation.
The problem with cancellation is not that there are consequences for actions.

The problem is the consequences are basically a dice toll based on the briefest possible condensation of a human into a moment of sin.
The dice roll of public mob “justice” is also not exactly concerned with truth or context.

Encouraging it is like keeping a rabid dog on a leash in your yard next to a no trespassing sign to create “consequences” for actions.
It really does not take many steps of the telephone game to go from “this guy has a tattoo that looks from an angle like a neo nazi symbol” to “this man is a neo nazi and everyone at his place of work is cool with nazism”
