Thinking of visiting our area? Please read this super handy thread full of important information to keep you, everyone around you and our area safe

We have over 40 car parks and on-street parking areas near the seafront. We know spaces are in high demand so have planned for car parks being full and will be providing Parking Marshalls at entrances to the busiest car parks, plus using variable message signs to manage traffic

We know where our traffic hotspots are and if necessary, will close Bath Road (Pier flyover) and divert traffic, and Shore Road, Sandbanks (at Haven Road) allowing exiting traffic only.

Pedestrians and cyclists, residents, employees, and buses will continue to be able to access the peninsula via Shore Road. Listen to your local radio station for traffic updates.

We’ll increase enforcement right across our area to tackle illegal parking. We can’t raise the level of parking fines as they are set by the government, but we are actively exploring tow-away zones for fly-parked cars as a priority.
You can report illegally parked vehicles and our teams will do their best to attend:

Bournemouth 01202 451268

Christchurch 01202 795000

Poole 01202 633285

To help remind people of the national guidance of 1m+ and to encourage responsible behaviour, you’ll see loads of banners and signage along the beaches and promenade.

With over 12 miles of beach, if you visit, please move along the prom to a quieter area where you can enjoy the beach more safely and socially distanced.

All our seafront toilets are now open daily with additional cleaning, and our seafront staffing is up to full capacity, with extra security where needed.

Councils do not have the power to close public beaches. Police can issue temporary dispersal orders if they consider these necessary.

Please Leave Only Footprints. Our beach cleansing teams operate from first light until early afternoon clearing the beach – which is why it looks so pristine every morning. We have 100s of bins along our seafront; they’re emptied twice a day.

Waste is everyone’s responsibility, so we’re asking beach goers to take their rubbish away with them if the bins are full. This includes disposable BBQs, which are only permitted after 6pm.

Overnight security is in place to ask people to put out their BBQs and dispose of them safely if they are not following the rules. They’ll also approach anyone illegally camping and seek Police assistance if needed.
