đź”’ How to Get Ungated in Restricted Categories on Amazon đź”’

This question comes up all the time!

To be clear, the ungating of each category requires a different approach but there are similarities you can use when applying.

[MEGA THREAD] 👇
⚠️ First, What Does It Mean to Be Ungated on Amazon?

A gated category basically means you can’t sell in it without approval first, and being ungated simply means you’ve become approved to sell in one of those categories.
⚠️ Which Categories on Amazon Are Gated?

Automotive

Clothing

Collectible Books and Coins

Entertainment Collectibles

Fine Art and Jewelry

Gift Cards

Grocery

Kindle Accessories

Major Appliances

Sports Collectibles

Toys & Games

Video, DVD and Blu-ray

Watches

Wine
âś… Before Applying for Ungating

1. You must have a Professional Selling Plan

2. Find the product you want to sell and scan the barcode w the Amazon Seller app

3. If it’s gated, you will see a “Requires Approval” button

4. Fill out the form and take note of what the reqs are
âś… General Requirements

1. Meet the Required Performance Targets for that category

For example, all sports collectibles sellers on Amazon have to have an order defect rate below 0.75%
📦 2. Create an Account with a Wholesaler

Before getting accepted as a seller, you need to have an account with a trusted distributor that’s already selling products in that category on Amazon.

Again the wholesaler depends on what category you’re looking to sell in
📝 3. Place an Order with the Wholesaler

Order the products you want to sell.
You’ll need to provide invoices to Amazon as part of the application.

Your aim is to break even here, you probably won’t make money in this stage. We are simply trying to get ungated.
📸 4. Upload Invoices

After getting your items from the wholesaler, make sure the info listed on the invoice matches the info on your Amazon seller account

Any errors in your info like address or email and you’ll get rejected

Also add the ASIN# to the invoice before sending
📲 5. Take a Screenshot of the ASIN

Go to Amazon and find the listing for the product you want to sell. Scroll down the until you find the product info and take a screenshot of it. Make sure the image includes the ASIN, UPC, and item model number.
⏱6. Submit Your Application

Now you’re ready to submit your application! Responses generally take from a few hours to a few days.

If your application is rejected, Amazon will probably let you know why so you can fix them and try again.
