1/ With the launch of reels, can IG fill the void created by the #TiktokBan in India? Sharing some thoughts as a user of both the platforms

2/ On IG, majorly a closed network, I’d spend 70-80% of my time consuming content on home feed/stories, and rest 20-30% on explore/IGTV. However, on TikTok, an open network, purpose is to find (not a creator myself) fun content outside my network. Want to keep both things in silo
3/ Taking IGTV (> 15sec) for example- I wouldn’t mind watchng videos, but will refrain from 'following' that creator/profile, as it might start showing on my home feed (cannib. with close network posts).
(Close network > creators (for me))
(Close network > creators (for me))
4/ To test - followed 20 profiles from IGTV -> moved to home page -> every 3/10 posts were from creators, 2/10 sponsored ads and rest of them (5/10) by close network, from earl. 8/10.
5/ Assuming similar to happen for videos using #reelsinstagram. No follow → no gratification to creators → lower creation retention % (keeping monetis./other variables aside)
Also, poss. that users start spending time on both feeds (home and explore), hence daily spent time on IG increases signif. (win situation for IG), or it might just cannb, with no/increm change.
IMO, TikTok like product needs to be a standalone app. But I doubt IG to do the same since they’d prefer leveraging their ~165 MN users. Just my views :)
