My favourite pokemon games:
X and Y
These games get a tone of flack and tbh I agree with most of it. It feels rushed and its difficulty level is way too low. However I love a lot of the characters, the music and design is great and these games helped me cope during an extremely bad time. They mean a lot.

Crystal
Bit of an overlooked released, but it's the pinnacle of early pokemon to me. The aesthetic and music are perfect. Plus it's a really fun game to play, feels very open and free.

Black & White 2.
These games are the toughest from my experience, and its that element of challenge that makes them a joy to play. And the story here like omfg, love it to bits. I havent played it as much so it is a little lower, but dont get me wrong its solid asf.

Heart Gold & Soul Silver.
Aside from having the best names in the series, these games are brilliant in almost every aspect. What really elevates them from just remakes is how they tie into and complement the other gen 4 games, especially in lore. Wonderful.

Platinum
Diamond & Pearl's flaws are wiped clean here, and we get a beautiful game with rich lore and a strong story. Honestly the whole Sinnoh era played a big part of my childhood, so there's no way this could be any lower.

The first pokemon game I ever owned, even if my sister completed it for me. The story here is excellent, the characters, pokemon, everything.... aaah. It's clear just how much effort went into these games. They're something else.

Mystery Dungeon Explorers Of Sky
I cant actually say how much this dumb game means to me. I adore it. Sure the dialogue can be cringy, and the gameplay can be frustrating but all in all it's just brilliant. All the let's plays, the community, all the fun moments.
