The Supreme Court news bumped me from a radio show this AM to talk ab how to get people to take public health advice seriously.

My first point would have been that to a substantial degree people already do!

Can you think of any...
other time in history when so many people changed their behaviors so substantially? Changing almost in a heartbeat how they work, socialize, clean, dress, travel, shop, eat, care for children, etc.

In data collected in June we found that large majorities...
of US residents reported distancing, mask wearing, and listening to health advice.

Much has been made of political divides - and they are real - but clear majorities of Democrats and Republicans were following health guidance.

For example...
It’s clear that - as @ReicherStephen has put it in the UK context - the people are leading the response to COVID-19.

People are, to a large degree, trying to do what needs to be done even as many leaders dither or - worse - undermine responsible action.
But sadly, as rising US cases attest, it’s not enough. We need much more competent and wayyy more responsible leadership.

We need leaders committed to rebuilding trust, fostering common purpose, providing consistent, concrete and practical guidance...
and substantially supporting people whose lives have been disportionately impacted by this catastrophe...
Anyway, that’s what I would have said about that.
