Let me be clear: The CEO of Goya is trash.

But insisting that everyone boycott Goya - in the middle of a pandemic when over 40+ mill people are unemployed - is simply not going to be possible. It's a wildly uninformed request, and donating your cans is insulting. (A THREAD)
Goya is often the cheapest (and sometimes only) option, especially in food deserts, and for some who use WIC or get their groceries from food banks. If you can avoid their products, then do so absolutely...
...but recognize not everyone can pick and choose, especially when you're on government assistance, are on a fixed income, or are living in a food desert. Do not confuse your place of privilege with other peoples situations.
Also, I swear to God...DO NOT go donating your cans of Goya. You aren't above eating that food, you already paid for it and donating it puts poor people in the situation of having to eat it. Stop using poor people as a depository for your moral growth.
You might be thinking "I'm giving to the less fortunate" but all you're doing is taking away choice. They have no choice but to eat that now. A better option is donating money to food banks so they can buy what they need. Clearing your pantry to clear your conscious isn't helpful
