My parents said no for 4 years which is why it went on so long.
Finally said yes in Dec 2001 but only a sore our living costs up to $10k and my brother and I had to take part-time jobs and out all the money into the biz.

Another thing they did was ensure that I spent time in the parts of rural Jamaica where they grew up so that I would understand their hardships, their sacrifices to provide a better life for us and not look down on others.

Mom walked barefoot and held the shoes in her hand because it was her only pair of shoes.
My father made us wake up and walk down to where he used to have to cut grass to feed the cows before going to school. They also made us take the train to Montego Bay.

The single most important thing that they did though was make us visit children at the National Children’s Hime, St. Monica’s Children Home and Mona Rehab and elderly at a golden age home to sing Christmas carols, deliver presents and spend time.
Bringing joy to others was key.
