As I am currently sending off my PhD manuscript for printing (and with no corrections necessary, yay!), I thought I would share the quotes that I have included throughout my thesis.

The opening quote comes from Winnie-the-Pooh:

"You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

I grew up loving Winnie (I still cuddle pooh bear every night😂) & I felt this particular quote resonated with me during thesis writing & everyday
Chapter 1:"You dig deeper and it gets more and more complicated, and you get confused, and it's tricky and it's hard, but... it's beautiful" @ProfBrianCox

Brian Cox was a huge inspiration for me during high school physics. I felt this quote was very fitting for the introduction
Chapter 2: "If we assume we've arrived: we stop searching, we stop developing." Jocelyn Bell Burnell

Another fantastic British scientist as well as a truly inspirational woman & trail blazer in science that discovered the first radio pulsars in 1967 during her PhD.
Chapter 3: "You get a planet! And you get a planet! Everybody gets a planet!" @LouiseDyregaard

This comes from my friend Louise who is also an awesome scientist & has been great at discovering planets like @Oprah handing out cars & fitting for a chapter of planet discoveries
Chapter 4: "Just get more data." @RogueAstro

The infamous Leo dos Santos (also an awesome scientist & friend) giving great insights to a visiting seminar speaker😛 but I guess he's not wrong?! And really what this chapter is all about.
Chapter 5:"Science progresses best when observations force us to alter our preconceptions." Vera Rubin

Vera Rubin, an inspirational woman in science and trailblazer in the field. She uncovered the discrepancy between the predicted angular motion of galaxies & the observed motion
Chapter 6:"Everybody thought I was a bit of an eccentric for wanting to be out there looking at the stars, but I still do." @DrBrianMay

As a huge Queen fan, British astrophysicist & guitarist Brian May was the perfect quirky choice for my thesis.
Chapter 7: "Aperoooooof!" Jan Philip Sindel (AKA JP)

JP is a great friend of mine, also a scientist who successfully distracted me throughout my 2nd year of PhD with nonstop 'aperos' on the roof of Geneva Observatory enjoying the stunning view & how I celebrated after my defence
And to wrap up the acknowledgements of my thesis!
There are so many people who made this journey incredible & gave me strength to continue, made me laugh, supported me & inspired me, so thank you!❤️

@RogueAstro @JuliaVSeidel @nicochunger @TheHelenGiles @KaryGri @LouiseDyregaard
Also @AstroKirst and @Jessica_LR_Lane, the two best supports I could ask for from a distance ❤️❤️❤️
