I do to mine during ocassions and he is wise enough to not insult the gesture by wearing chappals.

I would have ignored the tweet. But this is a good opportunity to explain what I know about Namaskara.

1. Paada Namaskara is generally done by younger ones to their elders+ https://twitter.com/RetardedHurt/status/1281484745084297223
2. It is not just a show of respect. But receiving a part of their tapodhana/fruits of Saadhana. In other words, if someone does this yo you regularly and you arent building your spiritual strength throigh regorous saadhana, you are in big trouble.

3. Who are eligible for+
+pada namaskara?
According to many dharmagurus, It is only parents (include in laws snd grand parents) and guru. Husband becomes eligibke as he is the guru-tulya to wife.

3. Every namaskara means a certain transfer of spiritual power to the kne who is doing it.

4 During+
+ocassions like Vijayadashami, we have the habit of touching every elder's feet. And it is an unspoken right to receive a monetary gift in return.

Imagine being an elder and have 10-15 kids literally raid your Saadhana one fine day? A monetary gift was considered a substitute+
+so that your spiritual power stats with you abd you arent sending the one respecting you, empty handed.

Coming to husband-wife, a wife is a natural partner in her husband's punya and he, a natural partner in her paapa. The other way round is sadly not possible.
