I am so angry. And have been for some time. About the way women have been treated during this crisis.

I am also angry about the way that *sometimes* shit happens to women because we allow it to. We keep ourselves and each other small and tell each other to behave.

A thread...
I have bookmarked tweets which demonstrate the complete lack of thought for women during this crisis.

In no particular order... https://twitter.com/MotheringH/status/1281309034864242688?s=19

And if anyone comments about how beauty treatments are hardly important, I can guarantee it will be a woman saying it. It's not about importance. It's about choice and freedom, and a different rule for men.
The APPALLING treatment of women in maternity care during this crisis has made my blood boil.

Oh goody, some women are now "allowed" people with them... I just can't. The inhumanity is staggering.
Of course, it's not as though inhumane treatment in maternity care is new in this crisis. Clap for the NHS? I think not. https://twitter.com/BirthTrauma/status/1280772750181793792?s=19
Victims are NEVER to blame. But women, *please* work to help each other understand about our rights. And our worth. This shit should no longer be allowed to stand. https://twitter.com/RebeccaBrione/status/1280794397504872449?s=19
As for this....

No surprise. At all. We knew from the start. We knew the risks lockdown would bring. Did anyone in power care? No.
All of this is WITHOUT going into the way women were expected (and expected themselves) to just pick up homeschooling like it was nothing and behave as though their careers, needs, jobs, activities, mental health and happiness were of no importance.
I hate a rant without a call to action. I don't know what your policy answers are. But personally, my call to action is this:

Question anything that restricts your freedom or threatens your happiness or well-being. Women, I'm talking to you.
I asked what the legal consequences are of ignoring track & trace. Another woman told me to pipe down. No. I will always question & explore anything that restricts my freedom, happiness or well-being. I am worth that questioning. So are you.
Here endeth the rant. Back to work.
