Been a busy week, so just catching up now on SFIC recommendations on boosting the international dimension of the ERA & Horizon Europe. Covid-19 has made the case for the EU to do more to increase international research cooperation - and the obvious mechanisms for realising this ambition are Horizon Europe and ERA.
Also encouraging to see its recognition of UK’s value add to framework programmes: ‘it seems in the EU’s interest to consider an agreement regarding the future relations with the UK that enables a close cooperation in that field...
Many of the leading European academic institutions and research orgs are based in the UK and advancing scientific excellence & EU innovation potential requires the exchange & collaboration w/ the UK in an adapted manner. Negotiations should emphasise these joint interests.’
