How can anyone predict the future dangerousness of an 18-year-old youth?! He was sentenced to death based on the #junkscience prediction of #futuredangerousness. How powerful would it be if #TDCJ actually cared about criminal justice reform and rehabilitation,
even proclaiming that we need to #defundthedeathpenalty and, instead, use that money to invest in the healthy development of children who have been raised in abusive households— like the abusive home Billy Wardlow experienced & actively fled— so we can take preventative measures
to keep them out of the penal system. Imagine if TX had BEEN using the money it has been wasting on the death penalty since 1982 to instead fund programs promoting healthy youth development, healthy parenting, and child abuse prevention.
#BillyWardlow would have gotten the intervention services he needed and he would more than likely be alive today. #AbolishTheDeathPenalty & invest in programs that support the healthy development of Texas youth!! Healthy youth often develop into healthy adults!
