It was felt that the community was under attack on campuses and in the media, and there was no leadership to counter the hate. Faith in the main Jewish advocacy organizations seemed to be quite low.

Within days, @bnaibrithcanada had organized a reponse that saw every delivery service cut their ties to Foodbenders. @CIJAinfo got the attention of every Toronto & Ontario politician of importance who condemned the owner’s hateful statements 3/
And the Jewish community in Toronto made their voices heard on Foodbender’s Instagram and Facebook page and in person. Such was the strength of the response that, as @SueAnnLevy observed, a planned Intifada protest in support of Foodbenders never materialized (hahahaha) 4/
Foodbenders deactivated their Instagram account, and the antisemites have been put on notice; mess with Toronto’s Jews, and you will get a reponse, and not Linda Sarsous’s “stanning” of your Instagram will make up for the trouble you will find yourself in 5/
And the strength of the condemnation from Canadian politicians at every level, city, provincial and even Federal, demonstrates that Canada is a place where the Jewish community has friends and strong ties 6/
The owner of Foodbenders thought she would profit off of the approbation of the Intifada groupies and closet antisemites. The actual result has been the demise of her business, and a reinvigorated Toronto Jewish community. Its organizations stepped up, its members stepped up...7/
