How to quit Opiates [A THREAD]
You can’t get outta bed without poppin a perc 30 or maybe you’re tired of shooting heroin and sleeping under the bridge downtown. You really wanna quit? Here’s what u need to do.
SEPARATE yourself. You’re gunna need at least 10 days off work. I highly suggest going to a detox facility, many are free with Medicare. This detox can kill you, do not hesitate if you feel like u need to go to the hospital.
DELETE your connects numbers. Block the people you used to get high with. Your heroin dealer is not your homie. You are on a new path now.
DON’T get on suboxone or methadone. They call the latter “liquid handcuffs” for a reason. I’ve never seen anyone successfully get off that pharma fuck shit. Just get thru the withdrawals so u can be free homie
DISTRACT yourself. Know that the withdrawals come in waves. You will not always feel this way it will get better. Watch a show, read a book, call a friend . Get up and take a walk. I know u don’t want to rn but it really does help.
HOT SHOWERS. Take a lot. These will help your sore muscles and also help you regulate your body temperature and stop the shivering.
HYDRATE. At least 3 or 4 quarts a day. And eat if u can . Easy food like juice, purées, soup, bananas, potatoes, chicken etc. Benadryl and melatonin for sleep.
BE EASY. All the pain and emotion you’ve been blocking out with the drugs is gunna hit u all at once. You are going to hate yourself and be ashamed. Be proud of yourself. This W is within your grasp now King (or queen).
SEEK TREATMENT: we all have reasons we did drugs in the first place, get a therapist to work through that stuff with. Go to A.A. meetings, get into a sober living home. Create a support system of good people around yourself.
If you slip up, that’s ok 90% of us do. Just get back on the right path. Find your PASSIONS. I don’t care if it’s cooking, snorkeling, dancing, making dumb twitter memes at 3 am(me) ... choose something man. Fuck opiates, CHOOSE LIFE
