Houston’s Texas Medical Center is the world’s largest, so has outsized bed capacity.

In other words, if Houston were not home to TMC and did not have a pre-existing outsized capacity for ICU and med surge beds, we would already be experiencing the cascade effect of a lack of capacity increasing death totals.

But we are also no where near the crest of our surge.

NYC has a population three times that of Houston.

Houston currently has 2300 COVID-19 positive patients in ICU and med surge beds.
