Need to implement Phase III in terms of ICU capacity on July 21st
( https://www.tmc.edu/coronavirus-updates/overview-of-tmc-bed-status/)

Houston’s Texas Medical Center is the world’s largest, so has outsized bed capacity.
⬇️
TMC has 2,300+ COVID positive patients in ICU and med surge beds today. https://twitter.com/sylvesterturner/status/1281387701841858562
In other words, if Houston were not home to TMC and did not have a pre-existing outsized capacity for ICU and med surge beds, we would already be experiencing the cascade effect of a lack of capacity increasing death totals.

But we are also no where near the crest of our surge.
(Please ignore “Girl I don’t have any treats honey”—I was talking to my dog and Twitter somehow went on voice dictation mode.)
(I’m glad y’all are enjoying that little malfunction. That’s what I get for attempting to multi-task. For the record, Bonnie is a very good girl and deserves all the treats. Her mama just needs to go grocery shopping 🤷🏼‍♀️)
Back to the very serious issue of ICU and med surge bed capacity, this is an excellent thread by Dr. @nickmmark: https://twitter.com/nickmmark/status/1281067680603107336
