1/ COVID ( @UCSanDiego) Chronicles - July 9, 2020

@UCSDHealth had 54 positive #SARSCoV2 PCR tests in the last 24 hours (a new high), increasing 7 day rolling average to ~28/day. The last 5% positive rate was mid-April, when testing volume was much lower. Our testing team is busy!
2/ @SanDiegoCounty rolling 14-day average of #COVID testing is also way up, indicating high community prevalence - stay masked and distanced!
4/ As @tesswilkry writes on social-distance shaming, the confidence interval around “I am being careful” is really wide, and concrete guidance makes challenges easier to resolve. Masks work, and states should require them unequivocally. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/07/reopening-psychological-morass/613858/
5/ Hospitalization for #COVID across @SanDiegoCounty is at a new high. Fortunately, these #'s do not risk either ICU or overall bed capacity. @UCSDHealth is caring for 47 inpatients with #COVID19 today. Similar ↑ in inpatients across @UofCAHealth

9/ Current contact tracing is failing the state of California. When will @CAPublicHealth allow an opt-in exposure notification app to move forward? @UCSDHealth and @UCSDH_IS will build and help measure!

14/ Finally, Dr. "Chip" Schooley and I are launching @UCSDHealth "COVID Grand Rounds" this summer! A series of 6 symposiums (Weds 7/22-8/26) will cover topics from vaccines to treatment controversies, starting with Dr. Judy Currier (ID Chief @UCLAHealth) - all streaming publicly.
