My nephews 2 years old and 4 months old started school this week in LA (both parents work - no other choice.) Today, they found out that my 4 month old nephew was exposed to a kid that tested positive for COVID-19 and the school has shut down completely.
Neither of the kids have been ANYWHERE, not even to the grocery store since March. This is their first week out and they literally went to school with curb side drop off and back home and were STILL exposed.

SIT DOWN, Y'ALL.
Their mom is a NICU nurse at one of the biggest hospitals in LA. She can no longer work because she's the primary caretaker for the kids and can't expose the children she works with. Her husband is a project manager and he's home for good now too.

Issa WRAP.
They literally went to a school that practiced social distancing, had curb side drop off, around the clock cleaning, changed shoes at the door and had 2 classes of 6 kids each and were STILL exposed.

PLEASE don't send these kids back to school.
12 kids attend that school total and this was the end result. Can you IMAGINE classes of 20+ students going back in August? Dawg.
A lot of daycares, kindercare, montessori's are still open. There are ones specifically for healthcare workers that need childcare. Staying with a relative or not working isn't an option for A LOT of people and you run similar risks with a nanny bc you dk where they been either.
They had no other choice but to be placed in childcare. Her mom came down from Memphis and stayed with them for 6 weeks to watch the kids before her job told her she needed to be back by TODAY or she would no longer be employed.

This is true for A LOT of people.
"Who puts a 4 month old in school?" LOTS OF BABIES GO TO DAYCARE. WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!

IF BOTH PARENTS ARE WORKING AND THERE IS NO OTHER TRUSTED ADULT AVAILABLE, WHERE DO YOU WANT THEM TO LEAVE THEIR KIDS? AT HOME WITH THEIR FUCKING COCKER SPANIEL?

SHUT. UP.
"Get a nanny!" They had a nanny they trusted and in April they saw her at a day party and fired her bc they didn't want her exposing their kids. You can get a nanny, but you cannot control if they social distance or not when they aren't around you.
Anyways, my point is that although neither of them are showing any symptoms (the baby was exposed on Wednesday) so far, they left the house this week for the first time and were damn near instantly exposed. If you can, keep your kids at home.
