Manchester United have a lot of pressing needs that have to be addressed, but if they can only afford to sign Jadon Sancho this summer whilst postponing other transfers, they should just pull the trigger.

Sometimes quality>quantity. Sancho is too good of a talent to miss out on.
Sancho is homegrown, can operate on either flank, can wreak havoc on the counter, can break down deep blocks with his passing, has mustered an incredible G/A tally at just 20 years old, and even when he’s off his game, he can still make a difference in the final third.
When you compare his attributes, age, price, and consistency to any “alternative,” Adama, Grealish, Ferran, you reach the conclusion that he’s worth paying a premium for.

United have a unique opportunity where they can sign Sancho without any competition. Pull the trigger.
United are enjoying a hot run of form, but they need to upgrade their attacking options if they are to challenge for the league.

Rashford has regressed below the mean, Greenwood & Martial will regress...it makes sense to have competition to keep them physically fresh & focused.
Martial underperforming / injured? Sancho-Greenwood-Rashford.

Ideal balance and rotation.
Assuming no major sales, United will have Matić, McTominay, Fred, Pogba & Bruno next season. Maybe Pereira/Lingard/Mata if they can’t offload them.

That’s 5 players for 3 spots. United will probably have to choose between signing a long-term Matić replacement or a Bruno backup.
The idea of having Van de Beek or Grealish as a supersub / option for rotation is enticing, but I would go for a Matić replacement. If both Bruno and Pogba are out, Sancho will at least help compensate in terms of creativity.

My #1 option for the DM spot would be Declan Rice.
Finally, for the fans worried about Sancho stifling other players’ development, read this series. The best Manchester United team of the 21st Century had Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney, Nani, Saha and Giggs competing for a place in attack.
