NFL Cap thread -

Some thoughts on the reporting that “NFL wants to put 35% revenue in escrow”... it’s terrible marketing. They’re basically offering the Cap smoothing NBA owners did back in 2015 that NBPA May have done in hindsight

I’m guessing they compromise with:

For easy math, let’s assume the $40M cap drop is real

2020 Cap is $200M (set aside $10M - 5%) per team in escrow and each player takes a 10% dip in 2020 on their base salary)

2021 - Should be $160M but is falsely inflated to $200M (with $10M from 2020, $10M from 2022, $15M from 2023, $5M from 2024)

2022 - Would have been $220M, now $210M because $10M pulled forward to 2021

2023 - Would have been $235M, now $220M because $15M pulled forward to 2021

2025 - Would have been $250M, now $245M because $5M pulled forward to 2021
