It is time to sound the curriculum alarm. The only way to create a coherent experience for students across different modes of learning and possibly different instructors and keep focus on the most important learning is a common coherent curriculum. 1/4
Common high quality instructional materials (i.e. Zearn, Eureka, IM, etc) accomplishes 4 MAJOR priorities : 1) makes life easier for teachers, 2) focuses on priority content, 3) creates a coherent experience for students learning, 4) anchors professional development. 2/4
High quality instructional materials don't automatically lead to great teaching. Great teachers lead to great teaching. But they can make it easier for teachers to be great teachers. 3/4
It is never too late. If you have not selected high-quality instructional materials that all teachers will use in common for the coming year, now would be a good time to do so. 4/4
