Recently discovered photo of several of the #RocketBoys on our Big Creek High School senior class trip to Washington, DC in 1960. Top l to r, Sherman, O'Dell, and Sonny (me in glasses). We had a great time. I raced Roy Lee to the top of the Washington monument. I forget who won.

Let's see, besides the Rocket Boys, the girl in front raised a daughter w cystic fibrosis who became a nurse (dedicated The Coalwood Way to her & family), the girl on right seated became an Episcopal priest, & the boy in the hat married her & was a top official in the State Dept.

The girl peeking through beneath the arm of the girl in front married one of the most highly decorated soldiers in Vietnam (he was in our high school class ahead of us) and helped him establish the Special Forces school at Fort Bragg.

Sherman became one of the first computer software designers, O'Dell became the owner/operator of an insurance agency and a farmer/cattleman, and Sonny (Homer) became the fellow who got to tell their story.
