Combo theory

Wall functionality basics thread:
The wall in Tekken 7 allows 3 hits on it before the opponent falls down super fast, making it almost impossible to hit other moves, outside specific strings.

The usual formula is 2 moves then a move that hits the opponent on the 60% scaling.
Depending on how you put the opponent on the wall, some carries might take one of your wall hits away from you, allowing only 2 hits before the opponent falls fast. Some characters use this in every-day play, but is a generally nifty thing to know for all characters.

"Low splat"
As previously stated, some strings function better at a lot of used wall hits - best way to test this out is to use temple stage and experiment with your character.

Flip spikes like Alisa's b4,3 allows an extra hit post break to put the opponent on the wall.
60% hits on the wall do NOT count towards the hit count on the wall, so you're able to do the same combo post wall/balcony breaks.

High splats on the wall is more or less the same thing, doesn't count towards it either.
To recap a bit:

Things that do not count towards the hit count:
60% wall slump hits
Moves that break the wall/floor/balcony

Example: Jin's cd1,2
1st hit hits the opponent on the wall - counts
2nd hit breaks the balcony - doesn't count

Same thing with floor break strings!
Regarding super splats - it has the same ruleset as normal combos, you just have more customizable wall combo routes to work with!

The super splat itself doesn't count as a wall hit, it's more on the lines of a legitimate resplat.
There are a few 'rule breakers' when it comes to wall combos, Geese's raging storm and Raven's BT3+4.

While they do hit on the wall, they don't count towards the hit count (Raven's 1st hit does, 2nd not) - this is because it functions like a super splat in a sense, just upwards.
"Normal" resplats count towards the wall count with each hit on the wall - Anna does qcf2,1 on the wall 3 times, but the 2nd hit of the string floats twice before hitting at 60%, and as a result cannot count towards the hit count.

It doesn't count if you don't hit the wall!
Q: What happens if you do too many wall hits?
A: Not much, the strings that work after a lot of hits will still hit, you'll just have much less time to connect those strings, because the opponent will start falling down SUPER fast, rather than the normal post-3-hits fast.
