A lot of people use the term bipolar loosely and passively. Bipolar disorder is a condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).
This means it’s marked by highs and lows; your highs is mania, the lows is depression. When your manic, you feel full of energy and hyper excited, when you’re depressed of course you feel hopefully.
Bipolar Disorder gets complex cause they’re many types of it; bipolar I, bipolar II, Cyclothymic and other types. Even one varies in severity.
In 2018 Kanye released his album “Ye” and on the cover art it spoke volumes. I believe this was the first time he revealed he’s bipolar. The cover speaks to the highs and low of the disorder, “I hate being bipolar” lows, “it’s awesome” highs.
In 2019, Kanye talked to David Letterman about his bipolar disorder. He talked about how he doesn’t take his medicine (which is common) for mentally ill folks, sometimes when the medicine begins to work, they stop thinking they’re “cured” or don’t have it anymore.
"If you don't take medication every day to keep you at a certain state, you have a potential to ramp up and it can take you to a point where you can even end up in the hospital," Kanye said
‘And you start acting erratic, as TMZ would put it." Referring to when he said slavery was a choice. Clearly we saw that he was manic. What are the signs of mania?
Very clearly he was manic, for him to go to TMZ and say all that BS and think it’s true, he was definitely in a manic state where he felt powerful.
“When you're in this state, you're hyper-paranoid about everything. Everyone," he said. "This is my experience — some people have other experiences. Everyone now is an actor. Everything is a conspiracy. You see everything. You feel the government is putting chips in your head.“
Remember in 2016 Kanye cancelled his Saint Pablo Tour. For weeks we saw videos of him literally ranting while he was onstage. People made jokes, soon the tour was cancelled and Kanye west admitted to involuntary psychiatric hold.
Was it mania? Yes. Kanye West was admitted to hospital for suffering from sleep deprivation and dehydration. (Signs of mania)
