...from personal experience, you really can skip maximus's endless political speeches or those cheesy disney channel romance scenes with crystal, lol
you can decide to laugh at the plot holes and silly character development and actually end up having a great time. BUT...

there's one little thing in this show that made me really mad, and it's medusa's sign interpretation. sometimes her tone and black bolt's frustration make it clear that she is purposely misinterpreting him to the others, and that IS. NOT. OKAY.
let me explain...

so i have a bunch of friends in the deaf community, and purposeful misinterpretation is one of the most degrading, insulting, controlling things you can do to a signing person. it attacks them where they can't defend themselves. it robs them of their right to free speech...

...it robs them of their voice, it lies about them to others in a way they can't fix. for the deaf, it's no different from saying, "shut up, my opinions are more important than you are."
when this happens between medusa and black bolt, the show treats it like a harmless little...

...bit of marital strife. it is NOT harmless. it's taking advantage of someone who can't defend themselves (or in this case, won't) in a cruel and petty way, and it's a terrible example of how to treat people who can't speak for themselves.
