I've been meaning to write up a column on this chart for a while now, but just haven't gotten my thoughts right, so a mini thread will do.
It measures #mubb against the average BEast team since 2008, and I think it explains about the current state of the program.

If you just look at the trendline, it's bad. Really bad. There is a sustained drop in level over the last decade, and even the highest high in the Wojo era is only 6th best in this timespan.
As @CrackedSidewlks has said, high floor, low ceiling.

But if you take that same graph and only measure Wojo's tenure, the trajectory of that line completely changes. It's shooting up at a rapid rate. He really was dealt a bare cupboard and had to start from scratch.
#mubb has been a better than average BEast team 3 of the past 4 years, and significantly so in 2 of those 3.
If you're an admin and like the coach, love the quality of people he's bringing and see his staff being promoted left and right, it's a truly positive story.

But if you're a fan and believed that the program's history and resources make the baseline higher than "better than average BEast team" it seems like the program has settled into mediocrity.
There's nothing to show for it but a 2nd place BEast finish in the worst Beast year.

All of this is to say, this explains so much of the dichotomy between the despair/anger I see in my mentions and in Scoop, and the general positive vibe from the administration.
It's all a matter of when/what you start measuring.

Of course, if this season does happen, and MU finishes near TRank's projection (70) instead of where pundits have them (top 40ish), the volume and heat is going to finally resonate outside of the padded #mubb walls.
