Skincare reminders for you this morning:

- Sanitize your products today w/ 91% isopropyl alcohol (think about how many people touch them before you 🥴)
- Do NOT wash your face with hot water (especially if you have acne)
- Stop air drying your face after cleansing (dehydration)
Continued:

- When cleansing, focus a little more on the corners of your nose. So many of you glide right past this area with your fingers and that’s why when you come in to see me you have a BUNCH of whiteheads over there. Cleanse the corners of your nose more!!!
If you have acne, you don’t want to ever cleanse with hot water. The only heat that would be okay is steam from a facial with extractions. Outside of that, limit your skin’s heat exposure. Ice your face 2x/day. Cleanse with cool water (doesn’t have to be freezing cold).
Another reminder:

- You do NOT have to wait for a product to dry down before applying the next one. There is literally no evidence showing that it’s more effective to wait. That’s also not how our skin works. It’s all going to be absorbed regardless of whether you wait or not.
Everyone asking about no air drying and what’s the alternative: the alternative is going right into your routine with damp skin. You want your humectants to have a source of water so they don’t have to take water from your skin. Just stop drying your face period 😭
The only exception to this is people who are using strong acne meds. Wet skin is more permeable, so applying meds like adapalene or tretinoin on wet/damp skin can increase your risk of irritation because they’re likely to penetrate deeper. Wait for your skin to dry here.
Let’s play a game! Tell me one skincare “rule” that you follow and I’ll tell you whether it’s accurate/helpful or not.
Also stop washing your face BEFORE your shower. The steam isn’t helping your face because the only time steam is needed is when you’re doing extractions (no reason for you to do them at home ever). You’re literally just dehydrating you face in the shower before your routine. 🥴
About washing your face with warm water, the *only* time you should do this is if you’re using oil/balm cleansers as they emulsify/melt easier with warm water.

But not HOT water. You should never be using hot water at all. This can cause erythema and sensitize the skin.
