So here's a thread:
1. For most people, asking for more money is less about HOW to do that, and more about why you can.
2. You can learn all the negotiation techniques in the world, but if you don't fundamentally believe you're worth loads of cold hard cash, you'll keep underselling yourself, consciously or otherwise.
3. So focus on both being, and feeling, brilliant at your job, with loads of value, first and foremost.
4. So how the fuck do you do that? Firstly, seek feedback, be open to learn, create a mindset where you're always learning and growing.
5. Log your achievements. Keep a record of your successes. Look at it with regularity. Whilst we need to look forwards it's essential we look back and review how far we've come.
6. Understand what highly paid, confident you looks like. How does she act? What does she wear? How does she feel? See her, meet her, embody her.
7. Understand WHY you want more money. Humans are most motivated by instrinsic rewards so what positive impact will that money have on your life, your family, others lives. Make the money real and meaningful.
8. Practice selling yourself. We're raised to be HUMBLE and QUIET and NOT BRAG so of course suddenly saying we're brilliant and give us loadsa money feels weird. Say it aloud. Write it down. Get familiar with it.
9. Nobody succeeds alone. Seek council, ask for support, get advice. Find somebody who is 10 steps ahead of you and study them.
10. Get introspective about your money beliefs. Do you associate money with being difficult/painful/hard to get/evil. All of this stuff will inform your behaviour.
Anyway yes, good luck. Go fucking get it.
