My friends @carolerizz , @allexxiaa23 , and I created this to inform folks on consent, coercion, rape culture, bystander intervention and why victims may choose to not report.

I am starting a thread below. We are not experts. Just gathered info and resources from google.
Trigger warning: content will include information on multiple forms of sexual assault and harassment.
This is the definition of consent. People can reject consent verbally and non-verbally.

Verbal non-consent:
“No”, “Stop”, “Don’t”/ I dont want to , “I’m not comfortable”

Non-verbal non-consent:
silence, shying away, pushing away, avoiding touching/engaging
Consent is needed AT ALL TIMES. It does not matter if they are your partner or if you have received their consent in a previous interaction. Also emphasis on the fact that consent is not limited to physical/sexual activity.
Here is a tweet which was personally very relatable to remind victims that your experience is valid. Also attaching data on undergrad students and reported harassment
Coercion is so dangerous and so normalized!!!!

NO MEANS NO. STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE SOMEONE AFTER THE FIRST NO.

Anyway, second slide shows some examples of different ways coercion can look like.
Want to know how you can you help as a bystander? Here are some tips and reminders.

Also, stop supporting abusers even if they're your homies! Unfollow them, hold them accountable, expose them, etc.

Remember that not all victims want to report so please respect that. Believe victims. But stop assuming they all want to report
